Morgantown Municipal Airport is a city owned, public use airport located three nautical miles (4 mi, 6 km) east of the central business district of Morgantown, a city in Monongalia County, West Virginia, United States.〔 The airport is also known as Walter L. Bill Hart Field.〔 It is mostly used for general aviation, but is also served by one commercial airline with scheduled passenger service subsidized by the Essential Air Service program. As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 10,239 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2012, a decrease of 4.1% from the 10,674 enplanements in 2011 and 12.7% from the peak enplanements of 11,727 in 2009.〔 〕〔 〕 This airport is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a ''primary commercial service'' airport (more than 10,000 enplanements per year).〔 〕 While the airport's runway cannot handle larger airplanes, it has filed a request with the Federal Aviation Administration to lengthen the runway. == Facilities and aircraft == The airport covers an area of 638 acres (258 ha) at an elevation of 1,244 feet (379 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 18/36 with an asphalt surface measuring 5,199 by 150 feet (1,585 x 46 m).〔 For the 12-month period ending December 31, 2009, the airport had 43,430 aircraft operations, an average of 118 per day: 66% general aviation, 23% air taxi, and 11% military.
